Mbamba Bay

Mbamba or Mbamba Bay is located in the Ruvuma region on the Tanzanian shores of Lake Malawi , about 40 km north of the border with Mozambique at 11 ° 18 ′  S , 34 ° 48 ′  E Coordinates: 11 ° 18 ′  S , 34 ° 48 ′  E , 470 m above sea level. Here you can find the cichlid Labidochromis sp. Mbamba .

The village has about 9,100 inhabitants.

In the colonial days there were plans for a railway line from the coastal town of Mtwara to Mbamba, but these were not implemented. Today there are plans to build such a railway (called Mtwara Development Corridor ) after all.
