McClelland Ridge is a high and rocky ridge in East Antarctica Victoria Land . It rises between the Sanford Valley and the Thomas Valley in the eastern section of the Olympus Range of the Transantarctic Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1997 after the American topography engineer Elias E. McClelland, who between 1971 and 1972 headed the team of the United States Geological Survey whose work was carried out in an area of 6,000 km 2 between 160 ° and 164 ° to the east Longitude and 77 ° 15 ′ and 77 ° 45 ′ south latitude led to the creation of eight topographic maps published by the survey in 1977 on a scale of 1: 50,000.
