The McPhail Turrets are a striking rock formation in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the northeastern part of the Asgard Range they rise south of Lake Brownworth over the northeast end of Nichols Ridge .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2010 after Rob McPhail, a helicopter pilot in more than 20 New Zealand field research campaigns in the Antarctic .
