Meanguera del Golfo
Meanguera del Golfo is a municipality in the La Unión department of El Salvador . The seat of the municipal administration Alcaldía Municipal de Meanguera del Golfo is located on the island of Isla Meanguera del Golfo and is located in the Barrio El Centro.
On June 17, 1916, by decree of the then President Carlos Meléndez, the island was granted city rights and the municipal administration of the island and neighboring islands was divided into 3 districts (cantones) and 13 villages (Caseríos), it belongs to the department of La Unión . The administration is chaired by Luis Antonio Dheming Almendáres (party: ARENA ).
In 2012, 40% of the community's population was connected to the drinking water supply and more than 90% to the electricity supply .
