Mechtild Jansen

Mechtild Jansen (* 1952 in Cologne ) is a German activist, social scientist and author.

Life

Mechtild Jansen studied sociology, psychology and political science in Tübingen and Bremen. In 1978 she - like Klaus Uwe Benneter - was excluded from the SPD because she had spoken at a rally of the Committee for Peace, Disarmament and Cooperation . At that time she was federal chairwoman of the Socialist University Association (SHB). In the 1980s she was the spokeswoman for the coordination committee of the peace movement , the initiative 'Women in the Bundeswehr - we say no' and the Democratic Women's Initiative (DFI). She later worked in research, journalism and policy advice . She works as a social scientist and freelance writer in Berlin.
