The Mecysmaucheniidae are a family of the real spiders (Araneomorphae) and belong to the superfamily of the Archaeoidea .

distribution

So far, the species of the family have only been recorded in Chile and Argentina, as well as on the Falkland Islands and the Juan Fernández Islands . Only Aotearoa magna and the two Zearchaea species are found in New Zealand .

Systematics

The World Spider Catalog currently lists seven genera and 25 species for the Mecysmaucheniidae (as of April 2016). The division into subfamilies is based on Joel Hallan's "Biology Catalog".
