Medal "Party Congress Initiative of the FDJ"

The medal "Party Congress Initiative of the FDJ" was an award of the Free German Youth of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in April 1976. The award was made to all those young people of the FDJ who were involved in the IX. SED party congress had done an excellent job. The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 34.5 mm shows on its obverse a waving red flag of the working class, on the lower flagpole of which the two-line inscription: IX / PARTY AGE can be read. This flag is surrounded by the inscription: PARTIES INITIATIVE DER FDJwhich makes up about 3/4 of the circumference. The reverse of the medal shows the three-line italic inscription in the middle: FÜR / HOHE / LEISTUNGEN . The medal was worn on a blue enameled clasp with the symbol of the FDJ in the middle on the upper left side of the chest.
