Medal for loyalty

The Medal of Loyalty was an award in the Papal States . The founder was Pope Pius IX. The award was intended to honor those who have shown allegiance to the Holy See and its consecrated persons, and it was given primarily to the military and civil servants.

Order decoration

The order decoration was in gold, silver and bronze. On the front, the tie and loosening keys were surrounded by a laurel wreath under a tiara and the medal motto : "Sedes apostolica romana". The reverse had the inscription "Fidelitati", which means "the faithful".

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon was yellow. The award was worn on the left side of the chest.
