from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medal for excellent service for Germany was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on July 24, 1952 in one step. They were awarded for outstanding achievements in the reconstruction of Germany, especially on the territory of the GDR. Although the medal was officially donated, no previous awards or pattern embossings are known.

Nonetheless, there is a non-governmental award from the GDR, which apparently resembles the above. Medal seems to take up and was also donated on July 24, 1952. This medal became known under the name Badge for the successful completion of six months of voluntary work in the service for Germany .

Appearance and wearing style

The silver-plated medal has the shape of a spade leaf, which in turn is enameled blue. The spade leaf is flanked by an open laurel branch (left) and an oak leaf branch (right) that is crossed at the bottom and curved upwards. In the middle of the spade blade there is a hammer and a shovel, which are shown crossed. The year 1953 can be read on a small bar below this symbol . The lower edge of the spade sheet is closed by a tape on which = DIENST FÜR DEUTSCHLAND = can be read in black letters . This medal was probably worn as a pin badge on the left side of the chest.
