Medal for loyal service in the fighting groups of the working class

The medal for loyal service in the fighting groups of the working class was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on October 6, 1965 in three stages: bronze, silver and gold. On April 19, 1978 it was expanded by one level. It was awarded for faithful and conscientious fulfillment of duty in the ranks of the combat groups.

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze , silver-plated or gold-plated medal with a diameter of 31.5 mm shows on its obverse in the center the bust of a member of the combat group in uniform, who holds a Kalashnikov in his right hand over the left in front of the stylized replica of an industrial complex two smoking chimneys. Under the embossed bust is the two-line inscription: FÜR TREUE / DIENSTE . The symbolism is surrounded by a semi-circular laurel branch that is braided at the bottom and is open at the top. At the award of the special level for 25 years of membership, the inscription reads: FOR 25 YEARS / LOYALTY SERVICES . The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the GDR's national coat of arms in the middle. The medal was worn on a 24 mm wide red pentagonal clasp which, in the case of bronze, also has a 2.5 mm wide silver-gray vertical central stripe. The silver level has two central strips each 1.8 mm wide at a distance of 2 mm and the gold level three central strips each 1.5 mm apart, each 1.5 mm apart. The ribbon of the special tier differs from that of the gold tier only in that it has a golden yellow border on both sides of the ribbon. The interim brace is of the same quality. However, a miniature in the form of a gold-colored battle group emblem is also worn on the interim clasp of the special level.
