The medal commemorating the five-year existence of the People's Republic of Romania ( Romanian Medalla a 5-a aniversare Republicii Socialiste România ) was a state award of the Socialist Republic of Romania . The foundation took place on December 18, 1952 by decree 461 of the Council of State ( Consiliul de stat ). The publication of the statutes was announced in the Romanian State Gazette ( Buletinul oficial ) No. 11. The one-class medal was awarded to workers, employees, technicians, civil servants, employees in agricultural production cooperatives (LPGs), scientists, artists and members of the military for special services in the struggle for the emergence of the People's Republic of Romania .

Appearance and wearing style

The obverse of the medal shows the national coat of arms of the People's Republic of Romania in colored enamel as well as a body of water, dense forests and snow-capped mountains. This symbolism is surrounded by a wreath of ears, in the lower cross corner of which there is a ribbon in the national colors of Romania with the capital RPR . The conclusion is a red waving banner with the inscription: 1947 CINCI ANI 1952 (five years). The reverse of the medal shows the five-line inscription A 5-A ANIVERSARE A REPUBLICII ROMANE .

The medal was worn on the left chest of the borrower on a 22 mm wide pentagonal clasp on a ribbon soaked in red.
