Media Culture and Media Management (MeKuWi) is an interdisciplinary , consecutive master’s course with a doctoral program at the University of Bayreuth . It was founded in 2009 and combines media, history, law, economics and computer science. The research-oriented curriculum is characterized by an interdisciplinary combination of scientific priorities with application-related issues that cover the entire spectrum of audiovisual productions, from film to radio and television to digital media. The standard period of study is 4 semesters with 120 CP ( Master's ) or 6 semesters with 20 CP ( PhD ).

Career prospects

The professional fields of the graduates are primarily located at the interfaces between (audiovisual) media, culture, economics, law and IT. After completing their studies, according to the University of Bayreuth, the graduates should be able to independently work out suitable problem solutions in practice and make decisions as media managers in the broadest sense in companies and organizations: as program designers for TV and radio companies, managers / developers of projects of digital media, producer, editor, planner / manager of multimedia festivals, scientific companion / analyst of multimedia productions / applications / possible uses of digital media, media journalist, legal advisor to companies, the media industry or partner / advisor in law firms geared to media law, media management in the sports sector , Product development for new media , sports sponsoring agencies, further education academies (e.g. e-learning ) and management in the field of internet publishing and e-commerce .

Admission requirements

Admission to the program requires a Bachelor - Master - Master , - diploma exam , a state exam ahead or an equivalent final examination at a domestic or foreign university; namely in a humanities, political, economic or information science-oriented course of study with at least good, for lawyers with at least satisfactory (at least 7.5 points) success. Furthermore, all applicants must be able to prove that they have sufficient foreign language skills in English and French ( TOEFL , ALTE , high school diploma with GER or similar). An aptitude test is a prerequisite for admission to the course. It is only possible to start studies in the winter semester.
