Medjoub Lakehal Ayat

Medjoub Lakehal Ayat (born March 8, 1936 in Oued Zenati in Guelma , † June 2006 ) was an Algerian politician, from 1981 to 1988 head of the intelligence service and general.

Life

In 1956 he joined the ranks of the Algerian National Liberation Army in Chlef . After the independence of Algeria, he continued his military career. In 1964 he entered the Moscow Military Academy. In 1965 he entered the Third Military Region until 1968 when he moved to France to join the Military Academy. In 1971 he became director of the education system, a position he held until 1974. From 1974 to 1979 he was commander of the 8th BB (Armored Brigade).

In 1981 he was appointed chief of the intelligence service. He held this office until 1987. From 1987 to 1988 he was chief of intelligence with the rank of major general. In September 1989 he retired and was awarded the Algerian Ordre du mérite national in the rank of Athir.

He died of a heart attack on June 4, 2006 in Switzerland.
