The Medusa pool is by the tidal embossed lagoon on the coast of Candlemas Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It lies on the west side of the central lowlands of the island. There is a connection to the open sea via the Sea Serpent Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the lagoon in 1971 after Medusa from Greek mythology .
