The Gorgon Pool is a lagoon on the coast of Candlemas Island in the South Sandwich Islands archipelago . It is located between the Chimaera Flats and Kraken Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the lagoon in 1971 after the gorgons from Greek mythology .
