The six surviving megalithic structures on Helnæs are located on the former island of Helnæs in Denmark , off the island of Funen , which is connected to Funen by a dam. The name appears as Hælghænæs 1231 for the first time in history, which means "holy headland".

These are:

  • Hegnedskov Runddysse in the north

and in the west, north of Lindhovedvej, the five neighboring plants

  • Helnæs Langdysse
  • Megalitgraves 1 - 4.

Hegnedskov Runddysse

The approximately 2.3 × 1.3 m large southwest-northeast oriented, roughly rectangular chamber of an ancient dolmen lies in the remains of its round hill. Five bearing stones are preserved; Two bearing stones and all cap stones (probably two) are missing.

Helnæs Langdysse

The long hill measures about 25 × 10 m and is up to 2.0 m high. It is part of an otherwise lower border wall. In the south lies a rectangular arched dolmen of 1.1 × 0.7 m, which is formed by four bearing stones and the intermediate masonry that was renewed in 1925 .

The free-standing remains of a north-south oriented trapezoidal chamber consist of two supporting stones each in the west and east, one of which protrudes into the chamber. The large capstone rests on three supporting stones. The north and south sides are open. The dolmen is in the remains of its hill near the Helnæs Fyr lighthouse .

A more detailed description of Megalitic Grav 2, which is about 125 m away from Megalit Grav 1, is not possible because the stones are in the earth of a dam. There appears to be a capstone on the northern side.

The free-standing, west-east oriented dolmen has an excavated chamber consisting of two 0.70-0.85 m wide and about 1.4 m and 1.0 m long stones on the south side. The only stone on the north side of the Urdolmen is 1.9 m long. The chamber is open to the west and east. The capstone is on.

The freestanding north-south oriented dolmen has a rectangular chamber 1.1 m long and 0.4 to 0.7 m wide. It consists of four bearing stones, two each in the west and east, an end stone in a field boundary in the north and a capstone in situ .

To the east of the island of Illumø is the Runddysse on Illum .
