Helnæs Fyr is a lighthouse on the Helnæs peninsula belonging to Funen . It is in Lindehoved at the western end of the peninsula. It is a 28 m high white tower with a square floor plan, which was built between 1900 and 1901 over the cliff.
Building
The tower is divided into several floors inside, which are lit through narrow windows. The lamp house is surrounded by a protruding viewing platform supported by consoles. The fields between the consoles are filled with decorative red brick masonry . The cylindrical lamp house with a conical roof and weather vane completes the building at the top.
function
At a height of 30 meters above sea level, the tower sends a flash of lightning (light shorter than dark) over the Little Belt , which extends approx. 16 nautical miles . The luminosity is specified as 5505 cd . The light colors are white, red and green, the process is repeated every 5 seconds. Today, light-emitting diodes are used for red and green light. Before that, white light was filtered with colored glass, which resulted in a loss of light intensity. Before electrification, the light was initially generated with a 5-wick burner, which was replaced by a mantle burner for petroleum as early as 1907 .
