Meilanion (son of Erylaus)
Meilanion or Melanion ( ancient Greek Μειλανίων or Μελανίων ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
Meilanion is the son of Erylaos and the Kleite who gives birth to him on the banks of the Kaïkos in Mysia . As a friend of Eurypylos he fought like him in the Trojan War on the side of the Trojans . He is killed in battle by Antiphos , Odysseus' comrade and later victim of Polyphemus , when his lance hurled at Eurypylos hits him. Eurypylos tries to avenge him, but Antiphos escapes and goes towards his later fate.
