The Lautenthal milestone is a small monument in the Lautenthal district of the city of Langelsheim in the Goslar district in Lower Saxony .

History and location

The milestone is located directly in front of the entrance of the Lower Saxony mining museum Grube Lautenthals Glück and, according to the inscription, dates from 1835. The road from Langelsheim to Clausthal was also built during this time, so that it can definitely be assigned to it. A clear assignment has not yet been made because no similar looking milestone is known. At first it was assumed that it was a Braunschweig milestone, then - due to the historical affiliation of the area - one set up by Hanover. Until around 1980 the stone was on state road 515 at 15.6 km near a bridge.
