My Avatar and I is a musical by Peter Lund (text) and Thomas Zaufke (music).

content

The piece shows what happens when avatars as virtual ideal figures suddenly interfere in the real life of their owners. Anne's avatar looks amazing, and Rupert could have any woman - if you look at his pixelated self. Joschi is a real hero in cyberspace, and Fritz has seven hundred and forty-three friends - at least when he's online. The piece describes how people cheat online by hiding their shortcomings and stylizing themselves as perfect people. However, the avatars created in this way are only "people" and develop not only feelings in the piece, but also a sense of responsibility towards their owners. This causes the avatars to contact them, which is strictly forbidden according to the protocol. The characters from Second Life and real life meet.
