Meinhard Erlacher (born July 15, 1982 in Bruneck ) is a former Italian snowboarder . He starts in the disciplines parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom .

Meinhard Erlacher started in 2000 as a junior in international FIS races . He also completed numerous races in the European Cup and took part in Junior World Championships. In April 2002 in Rovaniemi he achieved third place in the parallel giant slalom. On January 17, 2001, he made his debut in the parallel giant slalom in Kronplatz in the Snowboard World Cup and was 40th among 108 starters in the points. Despite this success, it was not until the 2003/2004 season that he was able to establish himself as a World Cup starter. Since then he has competed regularly in the alpine disciplines of the World Cup. In the 2004/2005 season he achieved his first podium at the parallel slalom in the Korean Sungwoo Resort . Another four top ten results brought him in the overall ranking of the Parallel World Cup in fourteenth place, his best placement to date (2008). In the next few seasons he achieved consistently good performances, often with places in the top twenty, but a further podium or even a win was denied him for a long time. It was not until the parallel giant slalom in Kreischberg , Austria , that he surprisingly made it onto the podium again as third in the fourth competition of the 2009 season , only beaten by Siegfried Grabner and Simon Schoch .

Erlacher qualified for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where he competed in the parallel giant slalom. In this competition he took 22nd place. He was more successful at world championships . After he failed in the giant slalom in 2003 , he achieved eighth place at the 2005 World Championships in this discipline. In the parallel slalom he finished 28th. In the slalom he had to record a retirement in 2007 , but was able to finish the parallel giant slalom in 26th.

Erlacher is single and lives in St. Vigil . He trained as an electronics technician, but works as a snowboard instructor. After the 2013/14 season he ended his career.
