As a master of Aachen Madonna one is sometimes unnamed known carver called that in 1230 the wooden figure of a enthroned Madonna and Child , known as Aachen Madonna has created. The approximately 103 centimeter high oak sculpture was completely gilded and set with precious stones. Gilding and stones were lost over the centuries and the figure was then painted.

The Aachen Madonna is now in the Museum Schnütgen in Cologne.

In the history of art , a medieval painter or a wood carving artist of the 15th century are sometimes referred to as the master of the Aachen Madonna . These have no connection whatsoever with the carver of the Madonna.
