Luís Alimbrot
Lodewijk Allyncbrood (usually Luís Alimbrot or Spanish Luís Alincbrot ) (* around 1410 - † October 25, 1460 in Valencia ) was a Flemish painter who worked in Valencia, Spain in the 15th century. Around 1432 and around 1437 he was listed as a member of the painters' guild in Bruges , and in 1439 he moved his workshop to Spain. The realism and attention to detail of the works ascribed to him are reminiscent of works by his Flemish contemporary Jan van Eyck .
Master of the Incarnation
Luís Alimbrot is also known as the Master of the Incarnation , after a work ascribed to him, the Triptych of the Crucifixion for the Convent of the Carmelites of the Incarnation (Spanish Convento de las carmelitas descalzas de la Encarnación ) in Valencia.
impact
Through Luís Alimbrot and through contact with other artists from Flanders, influences of northern painting - a style now known as Old Dutch painting - came into the art of the kingdom . Alimbrot was possibly also a teacher of late Gothic painters of the so-called Valencian school .
Name spelling
His Flemish surname "Allyncbrood" is now mostly written as "Alimbrot", but there was or is also the spelling "Allincbrot", "Hallyncbroodt" and "Hallyncbrood". In Spain “all-in-one bread” is usually given. For his Flemish first name “Lodewijk” (Ludwig), the Spanish form “Luís” is mostly used today, sometimes the French “Louis”.
