A late Gothic painter who worked in Styria around 1470/1480 is known as the master of the Oswald legend . The artist, who is not known by name, got his emergency name after his four surviving pictures of a high altar in St. Oswald in Eisenerz (Styria) . These depict scenes from the legend of St. Oswald . Today they are in the Belvedere in Vienna. The style of the master shows an influence by the master of the Viennese Schottenaltar .
