Master from 1302

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As champion of 1302 ( it. Maestro del 1302 or Maestro di Gerardo Bianchi ) is called a painter in Italy to the beginning of the 14th century. The artist, unknown by name, worked in the north of the country in Emilia-Romagna . It got its emergency name after a fresco in the baptistery in Parma , which is the donor of the Cardinal Bishop of Sabina Gerardo Bianchi di Parma , who died in 1302 . The niche fresco shows him in devotion to a Madonna, who is further surrounded by angels and John the Baptist.

Other frescoes in Parma can possibly be assigned to the master of 1302 . It is also believed that works in Como depicting Saints Fausta and Liberata or another fresco, now in the Pinacoteca of Cremona , could also come from his hand.

Like the architectural style of the baptistery, the painting style of the master from 1302 can already be assigned to the early Gothic in Italy.
