As a master of Trochtelfingen is medieval carver called, the three figures of the Crucifixion in the parish church of St Martin in the 14th or maybe early 15th century Trochtelfingen has created in the Swabian Alb. The three painted Gothic figures represent the mourning women Mary, the mother of the crucified , Mary Magdalene and Mary, the wife of Cleophas. They probably originate from a representation of a holy gravein the Michael's chapel, which was demolished in the early 19th century. The time of origin of the female figures is assumed to be around 1322 or a hundred years later around 1420. The figures were restored and painted several times in the 20th century. They can be seen behind the altar since 1963. The figures are now under a cross from the Baroque period.
