Mejicanos is a city with 140,751 (2007) inhabitants in the Central American state of El Salvador .
The city belongs to the metropolitan area of the state capital and is located in the east of the El Salvador department on an area of 21.12 km² and an average height of over 600 meters. In terms of population, it is the fifth largest city in the country. The city is conveniently located and well connected to other cities in the country such as Cuscatancingo , Mariona , San Ramón and the capital San Salvador. Mejicanos borders Ayutuxtepeque and Apopa to the north, Ciudad Delgado and Cuscatancingo to the east, and San Salvador to the south and west. It is divided into four cantones and 36 caseríos and is traversed by the río San Antonio . There is a volcano called Picacho .
