Ayutuxtepeque is a city and a municipality in El Salvador in Central America in the department of San Salvador and has 34,710 inhabitants (2007) on 8.41 km².
The city lies at an altitude of 695 m above sea level. NN belongs to the northern outskirts, 8 km from the center, to the metropolitan region of the state capital San Salvador . Administratively it is further divided into El Zapote and Los Llanitos . Mayoress for the 2009–2012 electoral term is Blanca Flor Bonilla ( FMLN ).
