Melex is a Polish manufacturer of vehicles with electric drive .

The Mielec- based and initially state-run company produced from 1971 mainly electric vehicles for use on golf courses . Much of the production went straight to the USA and Canada after completion . Between 1981 and 1983, however, sales collapsed due to the martial law declared in Poland and the subsequent embargo by the USA against Poland. As a result, the Melex product range was expanded and a focus was placed on the European market.

After the political system change in Poland, the company was gradually privatized in 1993. In 2004, the investor couple Andrzej and Dorota Tyszkiewicz took over the brand and operation of the company.

Today Melex mainly produces light electric vehicles for the transport of people, luggage and shipping goods. In addition, the brand has become independent as a generic name , especially in East Central Europe, thanks to its high level of awareness .
