Mellilä [ mɛlːilæ ] is a former municipality in the southwest Finland landscape Finland Proper . At the beginning of 2009 she was incorporated into the city of Loimaa together with Alastaro .

The municipality of Mellilä had an area of ​​110.51 km² and last 1178 inhabitants. In addition to the community center, the community also included the villages of Isoperä, Pesänsuo and Vähäperä. The former municipality consists of a flat clay plain. The Niinijoki River, a tributary of the Loimijoki , flows through Mellilä in a northwest direction. There is not a single lake in the entire area of ​​the former municipality. Mellilä's main occupation is agriculture and forestry.

Mellilä originally belonged to Loimaa and was called Peränkulma . In 1825 the place got its own church. Mellilä has grown since the station opened in 1885, so that it was detached from Loimaa in 1916 and made an independent municipality. In the meantime, however, the station has been closed again because the number of passengers had decreased due to car traffic.
