The wooden church of Alastaro has a very eventful history: It was originally built in Loimaa in 1754 . When a new church was built in Loimaa, the Alastaro chapel community acquired the old church in 1837. It was dismantled and rebuilt in its current location in 1840–41. The church got its present form in 1896–97 when it was restored and rebuilt under the aegis of Josef Stenbäck . A second church is located in Virttaa village. It is also made of wood and was completed in 1845.
