Melodisc Records (American label)

Melodisc Records was an American record label from the 1940s.

The independent label Melodisc was founded in Los Angeles in 1945 by Daniel F. O'Brien. The place of business was 6625 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. He published music that originated in Central Avenue clubs in the mid-1940s. O'Brien published a total of 31 78s , which appeared from mid-1945 and autumn 1946, mostly rhythm & blues and jazz . Furthermore, musicians from Marion Abernathy , Slim Gaillard , King Perry , Howard McGhee , Jack McVea , Karl George , Joe Thomas and the vocal ensembles The Mello-Larks , George Crawford & The Four Blazes and The Counts and The Countess have appeared on the label .

With bronze by Leroy Hurte, the modern label by Joe, Jules and Saul Bihari, and Philo Records by Ed and Leo Mesner, the label was one of the independent labels that were created on the west coast of the USA in the early 1940s.
