Memhölz is a district and village of Waltenhofen . The village consists of the parts Memhölz and Memhölzried.

history

A Memehilt was mentioned in a document around 1200. In 1275 the place was called Memchiltz, 1325 Memhildes and 1353 Memhiltz. The parish church of St. Andrew, mentioned in 1275, was rebuilt from stone in the late 15th century. In 1422 this was united with the parish cells.

The Kempenter abbot Roman Giel von Gielsberg had a summer residence built near Memhölz around 1650. She stood in the middle of the now heavily silted lake.

Memhölzried includes the hamlets of Aubruck, Brenden, Helen, Hubers, Linden, Maind, Oberegg, Steig, Suiters, Türken and Unteregg.
