Development history

Windows XP user interface

The application was originally developed for corporate communications by Volvo on the basis of a server-client architecture (based on IBM mainframes ) . The software was mainly used in the professional sector and was later sold and supported for other companies by Verimation, a spin-off company from Volvo. According to Nexus, 25 million users work with it. The current advancement is called Neon and offers client applications for mixed computer environments. It is regarded as the "veteran of the IT world" and implements functions that cannot easily be mapped automatically when migrating to today's mainframe applications.

Memo was the central means of communication at the Swiss Federal Railways until around 2008 . It was then successively replaced by Outlook and finally turned off on November 25, 2010. Even the transmission of written commands by memo was possible and regulated in the FDV .
