Menez

Menez (* 1926 in Lisbon ; † 1995 there ; actually Maria Inês Ribeiro da Fonseca ) was a Portuguese painter.

Life

She spent her childhood in Buenos Aires, Stockholm, Paris, Switzerland, Washington, Rome, London and Lisbon. She started painting at the age of 26 and had her first solo exhibition in 1954.

She came to London in 1960 as a scholarship holder of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian . In 1961 she exhibited in the II Exposição de Artes Plásticas of the Gulbenkian Foundation and won second prize in the painting category. In 1990 she was awarded the Prémio Pessoa . She received the Prémio de Azulejaria Jorge Colaço in 1991 for designing the facade of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Lisbon .
