The Breitscheid menhir is a possible prehistoric menhir near Breitscheid in the Lahn-Dill district in Hesse .

location

The stone is located on the southern outskirts of Breitscheid, south of the sports facilities on the Grimmelwiese. It is about 25 m after the start of an unpaved dirt road on the left. The terrain slopes slightly to the south, the stone is near the highest point of the hill.

description

The menhir is badly weathered and consists of basalt , which does not exist in the vicinity. It has a semicircular cross-section. The stone has a height of 65 cm, a width of 50 cm and a thickness of 36 cm.
