Menhir from Oberröblingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The menhir of Oberröblingen was a prehistoric menhir near Oberröblingen , a district of Sangerhausen in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz , Saxony-Anhalt . It was destroyed in the first half of the 20th century.

location

The stone was on the left side of the path from Oberröblingen to Sangerhausen.

description

The menhir was made of pebble quartz . There is no information about its dimensions. The stone ended in a point and had a hole 3 inches (about 9 cm) in diameter , which gave it the appearance of a large stone ax . It was still described as existing in 1909. Waldtraut Schrickel was unable to find it around 1957, so it must have been destroyed in the meantime.

Finds from the area around the menhir date from the Neolithic Age (including finds from the Schönfeld culture ) and the full bronze age .
