Menon (satrap)

Menon ( Greek  Μένων ; † 325 BC ) was a soldier and governor of Alexander the Great .

In 330 BC Menon was appointed satrap of the province of Arachosia by Alexander . He was provided with 4,000 infantrymen and 600 mounted soldiers as military support. It may have been identical to the Menon that existed before 329 BC. Was sent by Alexander to the southeast Armenian region of Syspiritis to bring the gold mines of Kaballa under control, but was captured by the local Armenians. Menon died in 325 BC. After an illness and was replaced by Sibyrtios in office.
