- Alexander the Great , coming from Punjab with his army , reaches the mouth of the Indus , where he founds the city of Xylenopolis (today: Bahmanabad). Part of the army returns to Babylonia by sea with a fleet under Nearchus , Alexander himself chooses the arduous crossing of the desert of Gedrosia and Carmania in August , which he completes in December, while another unit under Krateros chooses the northern route through Arachosia .
- December: Alexander the Great issues the so-called “ mercenary decree ” from Carmania and thus orders his satraps and generals to disband all privately established mercenary troops in order to prevent the quantity and quality of selfish or even separatist motivated machinations of his subordinates.
