history
The Hofgut was built in 1754 by Johannes-Nikolaus Mensch. Mensch, who also gave its name, was the game warden of Prince Wilhelm Heinrich von Nassau-Saarbrücken . He built the “people's hut” there, which was further expanded to become a “people's house”. It remained in the family until 1895 and was then operated as an economy by the Neunkirchen Castle Brewery . A country house was also built on the site. The Hofgut Menschenhaus was part of the municipality of Spiesen until the regional and administrative reform in Saarland in 1974 and then came to Neunkirchen, where it was allocated to the city center under administrative law . In August 2014, the catering service "Grunder Gourmet" bought the Hofgut for use as event space.
