Pollack roe
Pollackrogen ( Kor. 명란 Myeongnan ) is the roe of the Pacific Pollack . Salted pollack roe ( Japanese 明 太子 Mentaiko ; Korean 명란젓 Myeongnanjeot ) is a typical component of many Korean and Japanese dishes. The region around Fukuoka in particular is known for it. It is made from the roe of the Pacific pollack, which is made with red pepper . Pollack roe is often eaten with rice . It can also be mixed with cream, milk or margarine and used as a paste for bread or as a pasta sauce.
