Mercedes-Benz India Mercedes-Benz India Pvt. Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the German Daimler AG . It was founded in 1994 in Pune , Maharashtra , India .
history
In 1994, Daimler opened up the Indian market and established the Mercedes-Benz brand. The headquarters of the subsidiary is in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra state. According to a study by Fortune India Magazine published in 2013, Mercedes-Benz is considered the “Most Admired Company” in the Indian automotive industry in 2013. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz brand was named in a survey by the “Economic Times' Brand Equity's”. India's Most Exciting Brand ”.
The production site
A new plant was opened in 2009 on over 100 hectares in the Chakan industrial area, Pune. The plant was built on the "green field" and is considered one of the best CKD plants from Mercedes-Benz worldwide. It is also one of the fastest-erected factories to date.
Events
The "Mercedes Trophy" is an international, three-stage golf series in which golf amateurs can qualify for the "Mercedes Trophy" world final in Stuttgart, Germany. More than 2,500 golf fans in 13 cities took part in the 15th edition of the “Mercedes Trophy” 2014.
The “AMG Driving Academy (ADA)” started in 2012. It offers both basic and advanced courses.
Research and Development
With the MBRDI research and development center in Bangalore in 1996, Mercedes-Benz opened its largest research and development center outside of Germany. 5,600 engineers and IT specialists currently work at MBRDI.

The Mercedes-Benz product portfolio in India in 2014 comprised around 18 models.
Sales and service network
Mercedes-Benz India had 69 branches in 38 cities in 2014. The company has also committed to continuously expanding and improving the sales network.
Mercedes-Benz Certified
In December 2014, Mercedes-Benz launched its new “Mercedes-Benz Certified” used car brand in India. The market launch began with the opening of 12 new “Mercedes-Benz Certified” branches at the same time. This new brand was specially developed for the Indian market due to the increasing demand for used cars from Mercedes-Benz.

The company sold 10,201 vehicles in the period from January to December 2014 and recorded growth of 13% compared to the previous year (Jan. – Dec. 2013: 9,003 units). This was the first time in the history of the Mercedes-Benz brand in India that a five-digit sales figure could be achieved in one year.
