Meret was the goddess of the Sed festival , she is documented for the first time under King ( Pharaoh ) Djoser ( 3rd Dynasty ). Meret is shown as a tightly clad woman with outstretched arms, she is posing on a pedestal or a gold sign. She accompanied the festivities with singing, clapping hands and cheering. There are also records in which Meret appears in duplicate, one representation bears the inscription "Meret von Schemau ", the other the inscription "Meret von Mehu ".
