Meretnebty
Meretnebty was an ancient Egyptian queen. She was the wife of Sahure , who was the second king of the 5th dynasty and around 2490 to 2475 BC. Ruled.
Meretnebty appears on relief fragments from the mortuary temple of the pyramid of Sahure . The pyramid and temple were excavated at the beginning of the 20th century, but their name was badly damaged and was incorrectly added to Neferthanebty . Further relief fragments came to light during further excavations on the path of the pyramid in 2003. The queen appears again on these, this time the name being completely preserved and being Meretnebty.
Meretnebty had several important titles. Including “ Beloved King Wife ”, “ Who is allowed to see Horus and Seth ”, and “Friend of Horus ”. In one scene she stands next to Neferhetepes , the mother of Sahure. Both hold their hands. This may indicate that she was the daughter of Neferhetepes.
