Konrad Elye
Konrad Elye (* before 1375; † between November 8th and November 10th 1423 ) was Bishop of Basel in 1417/18 .
Life
Konrad, who came from Laufen , was the son of Mayor Johannes Elye and his wife Gertrud. He studied in Prague and Pavia , where he received the Dr. decr. received. He was an imperial notary in 1381 and worked as a teacher in Beromünster in 1382 . Konrad had numerous benefices . He was canon from 1398 to 1423 , and from 1398 to 1419 provost of St. Felix and Regula in Zurich . He was also canon , cathedral cellarer and cathedral curator in Constance . From 1399 Konrad was also canon in Basel. From 1389 to 1392 he was vicar general , between 1391 and 1393 official in Basel and later archdeacon , until 1423 he was also official of Konstanz and archdeacon of Thurgau. Pope Martin V appointed him bishop of Basel in 1417/18. However, Konrad could not assert himself in his diocese and waived a severance payment. After his death he was buried in the parish church of St. Martin in Basel.
