Mermec is an Italian manufacturer of rail measuring trains and train control systems (e.g. SCMT ) with headquarters in Monopoli near Bari and locations worldwide.

The company goes back to its predecessor Meridional Meccanica . Railway vehicles have been built since 1980, and Mermec was founded in 1988. Since 1994, contactless (optical) measuring wagons have been built.

The owner of Mermec, Vito Pertosa, sold shares in the family company in 2008 and founded the investment company Angelo Investments.
