Merrill Moore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Merrill Everet Moore (born September 26, 1923 in Algona , Iowa , † June 14, 2000 in San Diego ) was an influential early rock 'n' roller and boogie woogie pianist and singer.

Moore began taking piano lessons at the age of eight. His greatest role models were Moon Mullican and Freddie Slack . Well-known songs were "Rock Rock-Ola", "Snatch It And Grab It", "Hard Top Race". Although Moore saw himself more as a boogie woogie or swing musician than rock 'n' roller, he was a great role model for rock 'n' roll star Jerry Lee Lewis due to the strong rockabilly influences in his songs.

He died of cancer on June 14, 2000.

Merill E. Moore is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame .
