Mersenius is an impact crater on the western edge of the front of the moon , west of the Mare Humorum . The heavily eroded crater wall shows terracing, the interior of the crater is flat and traversed by fractures that belong to the ridge system of the Rimae Mersenius , the western main ridge of which begins east of Mersenius and runs in a north-easterly direction, to the west of Gassendi , near Gassendi G to end. The eastern, parallel main groove marks the edge of the Mare Humorum plain, continues the Rupes Liebig and ends at the wall of Gassendi.
