Mertensiella (book series)
Mertensiella is a book series for herpetology that has been published since 1992 as a supplement to the journal Salamandra . The publisher is the German Society for Herpetology and Terrarium Science (DGHT) based in Mannheim .
The monographs are often based on national and international specialist conferences that mostly dealt with native species or specialist topics. The series appears in loose chronological order and contains a collection of reports and studies on various aspects of the species presented. In 1988, the first volume appeared on the "Biology and protection of the sand lizard ( Lacerta agilis )". Since observations in the natural habitat, sources of danger and protective measures are a focus of the Mertensiella content, many of the authors involved are also members of the field herpetology and species protection group .
