The place name and the personal names are only the same in German, but are spelled differently in Hebrew . The place name Mescha is written מֵשָׁא Meschā , the personal name Mescha is written either מֵישַׁע Mēscha ( 2 Kings 3.4 EU ), מֵישָׁע Mēschā ( 1 Chr 2.42 EU ) or מֵישָׁא Mēschā ( 1 Chr 8.9 EU ).
Accordingly, the Septuagint also gives the name in four different ways, namely Μασση Massē ( Gen 10.30 LXX ), Μωσα Mōsa ( 2 Kings 3.4 LXX ), Μαρισα Marisa ( 1 Chr 2.42 LXX ) (this is a typo instead Marescha was read) and Μισα Misa ( 1 Chr 8,9 LXX ).
